Yuma Day 2

By Robin Carter, 3TV

May 1, 2007

My first trip to Yuma was nothing like I expected. The scenery along the way was your typical western, desert, but the rock formations looked as though mountains had exploded from beneath the Earth almost straight up. My co-pilot, Jim Cole thought it would be a great rock-climbing area.

The “Yumans,” as Dan referred to the local people, were great! They brought gifts and love for everyone, but most especially for their hometown boy Gibby. It was great for him to be a star in his own backyard, and he loved having his Mom there.

If you do go to Yuma, be sure to go to the Prickly Pear and try their Yuma Spice Tea. Yum!

Tara, Dan, Scott, Gibby and Brad signed gazillions of autographs, and there were smiles all around. We started the show in Lute’s Casino (don’t we always seem to begin in a bar? I’m seeing a pattern…) which had so many interesting pictures and paraphernalia that I could have spent half a day there. It’s like a museum!

Cool drive up river to Lake Havasu. Once again, I have never been here, and always wanted to see the London Bridge. Scott Pasmore opted out of dinner to set up some boat rides for anyone interested in going out on the lake. What a guy! It looked like fun, but alas, I just want to go back to the hotel, to my huge suite with the double Jacuzzi and relax. Very impressive at the London Bridge Resort. No one missed the 1:00 AM crew call….. we got to sleep an extra hour!

Thanks Sherry for coming out to the show and I would love to see the pics! You can send them to my email at robin_carter@azfamily.com. Tell your daughter we were glad that she enjoyed it. Five is a GREAT age!

Why don’t you ever come to Apache Jct, Az. I think that would be cool if you came out here for your road trip.We have a town called Grost Feild. It is a old western town just outside here about 3 or 4 miles.

Thank you
