There are plenty of free activities for kids in Charlotte, but how about activities that the whole family can enjoy? This weekend is a good one for families. I’ve highlighted my top pick for each day of the weekend (and, hey, doesn’t the weekend start on Thursday night?) Each of these events is great for kids but also fun for adults. To see even more free and cheap activities this weekend, browse the Events Calendar. Thursday: Charlotte on the Cheap Night at the Evening Muse. 7PM. No cover charge. Beer specials. Listen to four bands. And win prizes! Among the giveaways will be a night at the Great Wolf Lodge, 2 passes to the U.S. National Whitewater Center, delicious pastries from Amelie’s French Bakery, wine from Dolce Vita, and freshly roasted coffee from Dilworth Coffee Roastery. Kids are welcome! Friday: Blues Out Back 6:30PM to 8:30PM at the Gaston County Museum in Dallas. Free blues music on lawn. Friday’s blues artist is Big Ron Hunter. Saturday: Bastille Day Celebration. 3PM to 8PM. The French American Chamber of Commerce in North Carolina presents a free Bastille Day celebration at Extravaganza Depot. There will be juggling, face-painting, games, French food and wine, and more. Sunday: Annual Charlotte Folk Society Old-Time Music Jam and Ice Cream Social at Historic Rosedale Plantation at 3427 North Tryon Street. Free music! Free ice cream! Enjoy a jam session, clogging, song circle, and more. Get a taste of how a slow summer afternoon is supposed to go. Bring a chair or a blanket. |
