Police were looking for a gunman Thursday in a Texas City killing apparently motivated by lottery winnings.

The victim was found early Thursday morning, shot dead in a front yard in the 900 block of Second Avenue North.
Police declined to say whether it was his home.
Capt. Brian Goetchius, commander of the police department’s criminal investigation division, said the victim likely knew his killer.
Goetchius also said the killer likely knew that the man had recently won an undetermined amount of money with a scratch-off lottery ticket.
“We recovered some money at the scene of the crime, but we don’t yet know how much the gentleman might have had when he was killed,” Goetchius said.
