More than 350,000 people in Charlotte are on the social networking site Facebook. Most use the site to connect with friends, but it’s quickly becoming a way to save you money too.

Companies like Sears, Fiji water and Gold’s Gym want to be friends with you through online social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

What’s in it for you? Become a fan of Sears on Facebook and get $10 in coupons. Use Facebook’s coupon application for discounts to other stores in your area.

Fifty nine of the top 100 online retailers update free accounts on Facebook including Walgreens, Amazon.com and Sephora. Check out the boxes tab on the Sephora Facebook page for the latest steals and deals.

Restaurants are on Facebook too including the Melting Pot where you can get a free chocolate fondue.

Fiji water recently used Twitter to tell followers about a 40 percent off sale on bottled water. Check out
CouponTweet.com
and CheapTweet.com to track the latest deals posted on Twitter.

Keep in mind when you add a company to your social network they have access to your profile. Make sure you’re aware of privacy settings to limit how much personal information they can see.
