RV Log Cave Creek

Road Trip 2008 began as we rolled into Cave Creek on Sunday afternoon in this year’s colorful RV. It’s a Safari “Simba.” I really like the name Simba so I think that’s the name I will stick with. It’s symbolic of the wild, crazy and unpredictability of GMAZ road trip.

Simba drives beautifully and is much bigger than last year’s RV. Happy camper here! Did not start off the trip with any flooding like last year, thank goodness!

Of course, pulling into Frontier Town in Cave Creek the satellite truck gets a flat tire. An ominous beginning to the week…..See the photo.

We begin with midnight crew calls. The weather was perfect – just a little chilly – and we had everything set up early, thanks to Tommy Heidinger’s meticulous preparations in the months leading up to today. You have no idea how much hard work he put in so the talent can have their show from remote locations. I only know part of it.

I’m sure you saw the same highlights I did, but the best by far – the one that will be most talked about for years – was the pie fight. Scott certainly came out on top and our cables came out a little sticky, but it was just the most fun on the show. Puts Tara in the league of many famous and infamous characters – just Google “Pies in the Face.” I think Scott felt it was worth it to wipe off Tara’s pants and then he earned himself a massage…….

but that is the strangest masssage chair I’ve ever seen!

The ride from Cave Creek to Payson was gorgeous. I do enjoy Simba’s Imax front window to the world. Lots of people waved and honked when we drove in, so “Hey” to all of you!

One day down!

Happy Trails!
