Portability, Size and Design
The SunTouch Plus weighs 8 lbs and has the following dimensions:
- 9 inches wide
- 6 inches long
- 13 inches tall
It has a beautiful white frame that looks great with the blue light shining from the bulbs. The vent at the front is where the negative ions release if you use that feature. The power buttons can be found on the side and overall it has an easy-to-use design.
While moderately sized, it has a heavy weight for a light therapy lamp. If you read our other reviews, numerous models only weigh one to two pounds.
Full Spectrum
The SunTouch Plus is one of the few light therapy lamps we’ve come across that doesn’t offer full spectrum lighting. Instead it features broad spectrum, which is close but doesn’t cover the entire wavelength spectrum.
When we’re exposed to light, our brain reacts to it after it’s absorbed through the eye. Every area of the wavelength spectrum causes different mechanisms to fire off. These include serotonin release to heightened alertness.
Wavelengths range from infrared all the way up to ultraviolet. Most of the light we want to be exposed to is in between them. NatureBright still made sure to block out the UV rays with this lamp so you won’t have to worry about burns or eye straining. While full spectrum is definitely preferred, it isn’t a deal breaker that the SunTouch Plus uses broad spectrum.
Cost
One of the best parts about the SunTouch Plus from NatureBright is the price. It’s a lower mid range model that gives you the features of a higher end therapy lamp. The Ciradian Optics Lumine for example is priced similarly but doesn’t give you the negative ions or timer. Looking to keep more money in your wallet but enjoy light therapy? Then the SunTouch Plus should definitely be on your list.
