Mayor Bill White: Homicide rate down
January 3, 2008
It was back to work at city hall Thursday.
The new city council met for their first official meeting.
Mayor Bill White says he’s pleased with new numbers showing the homicide rate in Houston dropped last year from the previous year.
But, he says, there is still a lot more work to be done. “Burglary, as I’ve said on a number of occasions as last year, is too high. We want to see that number drop.”
Mayor White says some his goals for this term include getting more officers on the street, and making sure fingerprinting technology is standard.
