Man shot by would-be robbers

January 7, 2008

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a man’s fatal shooting.

Deputies say two Hispanic male suspects forced their way inside a home in the 6900 block of Orleander Grove, demanding money around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 6.

One of the suspects was armed with a rifle.

As the robbers tried to tie up the residents, Guillermo Castellanos, who owned the home, confronted the armed suspect and was shot.

Both suspects fled. Castellanos was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS or the Homicide Division at 713-967-5810.

Im sick and tired of seeing innocent hard working Houstonians getting blasted by low-life thugs on the local news every other night. There’s a special place for those cowards in hell…

I agree that there is a place in hell for those criminals – how dare they shoot an innocent man trying to protect his home and family. Let me be on that jury when they are caught…Saying that, I think the homwowner did the best thing by confronting them. The chances of the household being held captive and tortured was high;it is possible the howmowner saved the lives of everyone in the home by his heroiec efforts. I know it is a toss-up to give up or fight, but I rather go down fighting than be under the power of such monsters. God Bless.

This is why homeowners are arming themselves and shooting robbers.

Every homeowner needs to do this, eventually we will win this war.
