HOUSTON – A man wanted for a deadly shooting and SWAT scene is behind bars. Damien Perez turned himself into authorities Tuesday. He’s been charged with murder. Police say that Perez dressed up in camouflage, armed himself with an assault rifle, and shot and killed a customer inside a north Houston check cashing store on Quitman last week. The 59-year-old victim died at the scene. SWAT was called to the scene because police initially thought Perez was hold up in the store. Three schools in the area were put on lockdown as a precaution. Hours after the standoff, authorities realized Perez had fled the scene. |
