Houston police are seeking the public’s help in finding a man abducted
during a home invasion in southwest Houston.

Hector Borja, 32, was taken from the scene at gunpoint and is still
missing.

His nephew, 18-year-old Francisco Javier Avellaneda, was shot and killed
by the suspects.

The suspects barged into Borja’s apartment in the 7400 block of Gessner
around 1 a.m. Thursday.

The residents woke up to their front door being forced open.

Four or five males made their way into the residence and held all the
residents at gunpoint while they searched for money and jewelry.

It’s not clear why Avellaneda was shot during the incident.

He was shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide investigators later determined that the motive for the home
invasion was to find Borja. He was hidden inside the apartment and was
forced at gunpoint to go with the suspects.  His life is considered to
be in danger.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD
Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
