A jury is considering the punishment for a former teacher who slept with an underage student.

Shanika Campbell pled guilty to having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy during an eight-month relationship.
She resigned from her job at Carver High School in the Aldine district in May 2006.
On Wednesday, a jury heard testimony in the punishment phase of the trial.
The defense is asking for probation, but she could face up to 20 years in prison.

This former teacher the Law needs to be the SAME as if it was a male teacher and a student. But it will not if thay look at it like Kountze did { 100 dollar fine and time served and back in a school } No brake for this School Former or not Jail time 8 years no time off, And register as a sex offender for life.

Why this title for this article “A jury is considering the punishment for a former teacher who slept with an underage student.”

I think “slept with” is deceptive. Why not “A jury is considering the punishment for a former teacher who **molested** an underage student” or “A jury is considering the punishment for a former teacher who **raped** an underage student” as in statutory rape would be much more appropriate. That would be more accurate as to what this woman has admitted to doing.

Are you guys (i.e., KHOU) friends with this admitted sexual predator? Do you think the crime she has admitted to committing is analogous to simply sleeping with someone?
