Funeral directors take stand against violence

Local funeral directors and morticians are taking a stand against violence in Houston this weekend.

They want Houstonians to pay attention to all of the young people whose lives are taken too soon.
This weekend, a procession of hearses will circle Houston streets at the sites of violent crimes.
Precinct 6 Constable Victor Trevino said it makes you think about the problem from a mortician’s perspective.
“Everybody needs to come together, he said. “Every community — doesn’t matter what side of town it is. We can’t just think, ‘it happens on that side, it doesn’t happen in my neighborhood.’
“Every church, school, citizen — we gotta come together,” Constable Trevino said.
A police escort will lead the hearses starting at 3 p.m. Sunday on the northwest side.
