They say the early bird get the worm. One burglar took this advice and is suspected of hitting at least five homes before sunrise.

On Monday, July 14, 2008, between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m., the thief entered a home in the 17500 block of Shadow Lawn Way through an unsecured window. Over the next hour he went into the garage and retrieved several items from one of the family vehicles. He also placed several computers and monitors on a couch near the window, for ease in exiting with the stolen goods.

One family member heard noises around 4:30 a.m. and went to investigate. When she observed the suspect in the house, she yelled out. Her husband confronted the suspect inside the house before the suspect escaped through the window he originally entered.

But this wasn’t the burglar’s first time. Police suspect he has targeted five other homes. Each time he has entered the home in the early morning hours.

The other burglaries occurred in the following locations:

10300 block of Nickel Groves in Stonegate
17800 block of Western Pass in Copperfield
17600 block of Rustling Aspen in Copperfield
17100 block of Hamil Wood in Copperfield
15400 block of Ryoaks in Copperfield.

Surveillance video from a Valero station near Barker Cypress and West Road caught the man on tape using a credit card taken in one of the area burglaries. He is black, approximately 5’7″ tall, about 170 pounds, with close-cropped black hair. In the video, he was wearing a white tee shirt, blue or black knee-length shorts, and a white baseball cap. He may have tattoos on the back of his neck.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information. Call the 713-222-8477 tips hot line.
