Saturday, from noon until 9 p.m., enjoy the Charlotte Caribbean Festival at Independence Park. Parade, kids’ activities, music, food, and more.

On Saturday, the Plaza Midwood Neighborhood is having their first Shop-Hop. Stores are staying open later, there will be free music at Pura Vida, and discounts are being offered at many stores. Silent auctions will raise money for Crisis Assistance Ministry. Also you can bring your old clothes to donate to Crisis Assistance Ministry. Boxes will be on the sidewalks.

Also on Saturday, watch the classic Hitchcock film, Vertigo, at Wachovia Playhouse at 2 p.m.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, kids can make a toy wooden helicopter for free at Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores’ Build and Grow Clinics.

For more cheap and free weekend fun, look at the Charlotte on the Cheap Calendar.
