Samuel Lee Jefferson II, is accused in the killing of 19-year-old Shanetria Treaneice Grogan on Saturday morning in a home on Southwind.

Police said that at the time of the murder Grogan was in her bedroom with Jefferson, her former live-in boyfriend.

Grogan’s mother, who was in the living room, heard a loud sound come from the bedroom and saw Jefferson leave the bedroom. As he left, Grogan’s mother asked what had happened, to which Jefferson replied, “nothing.”

A short time later, Grogan was found shot in her bedroom. Paramedics were called and pronounced her dead.

Later the same day, Jefferson contacted homicide investigators and turned himself in. He provided a statement admitting he shot Grogan and led investigators to the possible murder weapon.

According to family members, Grogan no longer wanted to have a relationship with Jefferson but allowed him to stay at her residence since he said he had no where else to live.
