A wrong-way driver who crashed head-on into another car has been charged with DWI.
Just after 2 a.m., the suspect got turned around on Greenbriar and was heading north toward Highway 59.
Another driver going the right way didn’t see the car in time and was hit. He had a broken finger and some other injuries.
The suspect going the wrong way wasn’t hurt.

A man is in serious condition after a shooting at the Greenspoint Bennigan’s restaurant.
Around 10:30 p.m., four men were talking to a man sitting in his car. Suddenly, one of the suspects took out a gun and shot the driver, who was hit three times.
The shooting victim tried to drive away but crashed into a parked vehicle.
The suspects sped off in a white Chevy Impala. The victim was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in serious condition.

You can find reviews for all kinds of things online — including Houston police officers.
A Web site called Rate My Cop allows users to anonymously score law enforcement officials from around the country.
About 1,700 HPD officers are listed on the site by name.
Department officials here said they’d prefer people call HPD supervisors to give feedback directly.
They also expressed concern about Web sites giving out officer’s person information, fearing it may compromise undercover operations.

Sam Houston is getting an early spring cleaning thanks to some vandals.
The feet of the statue in Huntsville were hit by graffiti vandals this week.
Officials say it will cost about $650 to repair.
If those who were responsible are found, they’ll face state felony charges.

A man was hit by a speeding car early Friday morning.
It happened on Dairy Ashford at Bissonnet.
Police say the driver was speeding through a parking lot, and then he hit the victim, who was standing behind a gas station.
The man suffered head and leg injuries.

Three suspects who led police on a wild chase are in custody.
HPD said they spotted the men in a stolen SUV at a northeast Houston Jack in the Box.
The men drove all the way to White Oak Bayou in northwest Houston.
An HPD squad car got stuck in the grass and had to be pushed out.

Police tried to pull over a driver around 9:30 p.m. Monday near MLK and Bellfort.
The driver took off but ended up crashing the car. He took off on foot, and police arrested his passengers.
Police believe the car was stolen.

A suspect broke into the back of Monahan Elementary School early Monday morning.
Deputies are still taking inventory of what was damaged or stolen.
Officials said the person got in through a window.

A SWAT standoff in southeast Houston ended after nearly four hours and netted no suspects Sunday night.
Around 7 p.m., police got a report that a man had shot his friend. When they arrived, they saw a man run into the house.
Finally, at 11:30 p.m., they went into the house, but it was empty. Police aren’t sure where the man went.

Around 1 a.m. Monday, residents of an apartment complex in the 9800 block of Larkwood heard gunshots.
Someone called 911, and Houston police found a man lying in the street. Detectives haven’t found any witnesses to the shooting yet, and they have no suspects.

The man accused of stabbing a woman as she walked out of Sharpstown Mall is now being held on $40,000 bond.
A judge set that amount Friday morning during Adrian Hawkins first court appearance. He’s charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.
Police say he pretended to hold a mall door open for two women before stabbing one several times. He then allegedly stole that woman’s purse and the other woman’s SUV.
The woman who was stabbed is still recovering in the hospital.

Two men accused serial robbers were taken into custody Thursday.
The Harris County Sheriff’s office says Jeffrey Quinn and Elliot Baptiste began a spree of robberies targeting Game Stop establishments on February 18.
The pair, investigators say, is also linked to at least seven Game Stop heists.
They’re also being investigated for two Cricket and two Sprint store robberie…

A woman taking out her trash Tuesday night found a man lying in the alley at 9777 Harwin.
When Houston police arrived, they discovered he’d been shot to death. The man still had his wallet, so police don’t believe robbery was the motive.

Around 2:30 a.m., Houston police responded to a call about a possible break-in at Spring Forest Middle School.
When officers arrived, they saw a man running from the school on Memorial, and he did not stop when officers asked him to. That’s when they sent off the K-9, who quickly caught him and bit his leg.
The suspect was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital and faces criminal trespassing charges.
Police don’t know if he actually made it into the school.

The accidental fatal shooting of a Sugar Land teen will be referred to a grand jury without charges.
Kenneth Valencia, 18, was shot in the chest Saturday afternoon at a friend’s Houston apartment.
HPD said the two were playing with Valencia’s gun. Valencia tackled his friend, who was holding the gun, causing it to go off.
Valencia was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he died.

Police are looking for the man responsible for murdering a southwest Houston woman.
Investigators said 42-year-old Aldegunda Alvarez was sitting in a pickup truck with someone she knew when a man with a shotgun walked up to her window.
HPD has no motive for the crime.

Around 5:15 a.m. Friday, a man riding his bicycle was hit and killed by a truck.
The truck then fled the scene at I-45 and Cullen. A witness to the incident stopped to talk to Houston police, but they have no description of the pickup truck.

One man is in custody after a short chase that started near the North Loop East at Lockwood.
They pulled over the white Cadillac for a traffic violation, but when they approached the car, the driver got out and ran on foot.
Eventually a K-9 unit found him hiding int he bushes, and he was arrested.

An apparently argument between family members Wednesday night led to a shooting that killed at least one person.
It happened at the Lisa Motel around 5:30 p.m.
Two men were shot, and one of them died.
