No charges for HPD officers who shot Houston man

Two police officers who shot and killed a crowbar wielding man have been no billed by a Harris County Grand Jury.

The panel declined to accept charges against officers Robert Weiners and Tracy Jackson.

They shot and killed Steven Guillory after he smashed the windows of a police car and then made threatening movements toward officers.

A 40-year-old man has been charged in the death of a man found on the side of the road Saturday, police say.
Robert Daniel Lucas is accused in the killing of 22-year-old Oscar Caldwell who suffered multiple concussions to the head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Caldwell was found in the 5100 block of the North Freeway near the Skyline Apartments and appeared to have been beaten.
According to police, a witness said Caldwell showed up at the apartment complex with a handgun and threatened residents shortly before he was found.

Former HPD cadet cleared of drug charges

Last year, a patrol officer arrested HPD cadet, Rene Fuentes, for allegedly buying and selling crack cocaine.

But Friday, a grand jury who heard his testimony refused to indict him.

Fuentes’ attorney says he suspects there wasn’t enough evidence to prove drugs found in a car belonged to his client.

He also says his client has no intentions of re-applying to the police department.



Charges dropped against Jersey Village cop

The charges have been dropped against a Jersey City police officer.

Robert LeRouax will not be tried for tampering even though, police say, he kept bottles of Xanax and Vicodin that should have been tagged as evidence.

The DA’s office says a conviction would have been unlikely, but left open the possibility of drug possession charges.

Officers found the drugs in LeRouax’s trunk after he crashed his patrol car while on duty.



Thieves target Friendswood Junior High

Someone stole equipment from Friendswood Junior High at 402 Laurel and deputies want to know who.

Employees arriving for work reported the theft Tuesday morning.

The burglar, police say, got into a portable building through a window.

A computer keyboard and a DVD player were taken.

Graffiti was also spray painted at the school, but it’s not known if both incidents are connected.

The name of a rival school “Brook” was also painted on a wall.

Man accused of killing landlord on the run

Charges were filed Tuesday against a man wanted for killing two men in southeast Houston.

Police say Librado Jimenez was late on his rent.

 

So, when Israel Gevara and his son, Israel Alvarado went to collect the rent Saturday the men got into a fight.

That’s when police believe Jimenez shot both father and son.

It’s believed Jimenez is on his way…



3 men attack Fort Bend County resident

A Fort Bend County man is telling a tale of terror after being attacked on his way home.

It happened was the man walked home from a Phillips 66 service station on 2605 Fifth Street in Stafford on Friday.

Police say it was about 6:30 p.m. when the victim passed three men who, for some reason, attacked him.

The trio got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

One of the suspects, police say, wore an orange colored shirt and pants. The other two, they say, wore navy blue shirts and blue jeans. One of them had an orthopedic shoe.
