The big men of track and field, the shot putters, wowed a sun-soaked Hayward Field crowd Sunday, launching the put to the rhythmic claps of fans.

Reese Hoffa established his dominance early and cruised to the win. Christian Cantwell placed second to earn his first Olympic birth. Fan favorite Adam Nelson placed third, securing a spot for his third straight Olympics.
