Showtime at Opening Ceremony

The workspace is buzzing as we get ready for Opening Ceremony here in an hour and a half. The streets are jam packed, everyone is in a great mood, and I have never had so many people stop to take my picture. I think it's supposed to be the other way around, but I'm having a blast. Today will be a marathon day as I need to do two fast-turn stories that you can watch tonite (Friday) at 5pm and during the late news.

The first story at 5 will showcase the wild street scene and all the fun that always is a part of the Ceremony. We're on the hunt for folks from Oregon, Washington or the U.S. to get their anticipation.

Then during the late evening news.. I'll bring you some highlights of the Opening Ceremony and more reaction. With the time change.. I think I'll get about 4 hours of sleep tonite and the photographer I'm working with.. Ken.. will get about two. He is working so hard and I can not wait-- positively can not wait-- for you to see the stories we've already shot and editied. He's done some amazing stuff.

In the short term-- I'm now taking blog notes on my phone.. everything seems good fodder from what I'm calling the "Sea Cucumber Incident" to jammin' to the Musak version of the song Sexual Healing while having a late night dinner at the hotel.

Here are a few pics and some links to some photo slideshows I took. The camera is Joe Donlon's and I'm just learning how to use it-- so bear with me!!

Anyone know what this is?? Look at the sliced fruit. I thought it was a lime, but it's sweeter. And orange inside. A lovely addition to my morning tea!!

And here's that pesky bruise from accidentally getting my arm rolled up in that taxicab window. It's on my arm there. It's still lookin' pretty angry.

Slideshow time!!
Slideshow One: Getting here from there.

Slideshow Two: Just learnin' the camera.

Slideshow Three: We go see the pandas.

It's showtime, folks!! :-D

Thanks for giving us the behind the scenes slices of life from Beijing!
I'm vicariously living through you! Or is that living vicariously? Not sure.
Peace,

Stephanie,

The opening ceremony was amazing! I loved the lighting of the torch. I was thinking about you as we watched.
