By Joe Becker I had a great time watching the Gold Medal game between the US and Spain. Thanks to NBC for broadcasting it live. I was able to watch it here at the station as soon as I got off the air. It was a terrific basketball game and you might say it was as good as gold. I was happy for team USA and Blazers coach Nate McMillan, who is an assistant coach with team USA. I've never covered the Olympics, but I have covered two Olympic teams. In fact, Michael Jordan played on both of them. The first was in 1984. I was working for a TV Station in Providence, Rhode Island. The American team played a number of exhibition games with a team of NBA stars. The first one was at the Providence Civic Center. It was the first time I interviewed Bobby Knight and the first time I interviewed Jordan. He was just out of College at North Carolina. It was a Blast. Then in 1992, the Dream Team played the Tournament of the America's at the Coliseum. This year's team is a good one too...and they represented the United States very well. They were tested and they came through...with another Golden Moment for the United States. |
