Maybe it will be great preparation for the infamous Beijing air quality. The latest weather forecast for the U.S Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene calls for three days of mid-90 degree weather to start the event. That might not be the biggest problem for athletes. According to the latest report on pollen.com, Eugene and Oregon's Willamette Valley are the worst place in the entire Unitest States for pollen this week.
To top it all off, some of the first events on the Trials schedule are the distance events, where good lungs and cool air matter most. And thanks to rampant problems with performance enhancing drugs, even common over the counter allergy medicines are often off limits to athletes. It should make for an interesting start to the Track Trials! |
